Heritage Fair Notes and Bibliography

Heritage Fair note taking sheet and bibliography sheet is due Friday Feb, 26. Students must have a minimum of 3 resources and use proper citing for their bibliography. Students can use their citations handout or easybib to help them cite properly.

Cross Country Skiing at Cypress on Thursday, Feb 25

Student need to be at the school and ready to leave by 8:15 am. Rental skis, boot and poles will be provided. Students should all bring the following:

  • Secure footwear with good winter tread is Strongly Recommended!
  • Water resistant jacket
  • Water proof snow pants
  • Multiple layers to take off or put on as you get warm or cold 
  • Gloves (2 pairs)
  • Extra socks
  • Toque
  • Sunscreen and sun glasses
  • Lunch 



Book Reviews- Feb 22

Have you ever read a New York Times or real-world book review? Students will be posting their Newbery/YRCA book reviews on this blog and websites on Feb. 22nd!

Students, remember the "secrets to a great book review"- 
Start with a hook
Craft a strong thesis
Include three-five paragraphs
Use solid evidence in the form of quotes to support your ideas.

I can't wait to read them!

It's "Love Month"!

Students made banners with synonyms for love to celebrate Valentine's Day and to welcome their grade 1 buddies last Wednesday. Love=Justice=Joy=Passion=Comfort=Gratitude

Please review unit 3: Number Sense,  pp. 51-63 for a short math quiz this Wednesday, Feb. 17th.

Topics include:
Factors and Multiples
Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) and Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
Perfect Squares
Adding, multiplying and dividing square roots

Newbery Lit Circle #2- due Feb. 10
